Cards that I have

These are the cards that I actually have. This page is based on Ian Romanick's page, and sources can be found there. Just like everything else on the web, this is still a work in progress. I have pretty much all my cards listed, but there are some additional details that still need to be added for some. I also intend to add pictures of all (or at least most) of the cards.

There are a few in a tub that aren't listed here. They're of the trio32/64, mach64 pre-pro, etc. variety.

3dfx

TechWorks Power 3D chipset: v1 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: ppc

I was so leet when I had this. Aren't 3d-only video cards awesome? (no)

Voodoo Banshee chipset: banshee bus: AGP memory: 16MB
PCI ID: 121a:0003 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

From Free Geek's $2 box.

Voodoo 3 chipset: v3 bus: PCI memory: 16MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I originally got started doing 3d stuff when I traded my TNT2U to a friend for his PCI Voodoo3. Now, instead of pretending I would work on nvidia's scary obfuscated stuff, I could actually work on the port of 3dfx DRI for FreeBSD. I fear it may be dead now

Voodoo 3 chipset: v3 bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Voodoo 5 chipset: v5 bus: AGP memory: 64MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

3dlabs

GMX2000 chipset: Gamma G1 + dual MX bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I bought this thing to support it on BSD. I decided to remove the driver, instead.

Permedia2 chipset: permedia2 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

ATI

Rage IIC chipset: mach64 bus: AGP memory: 8MB
PCI ID: 1002:475a Subsys ID: Platform: x86

From Free Geek's $2 box.

Rage Pro? VIVO chipset: mach64 bus: AGP memory: 8MB
PCI ID: 1002:4242 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

From Free Geek

Rage Pro Turbo chipset: mach64 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Rage XL chipset: mach64 bus: AGP memory: 8MB
PCI ID: 1002:474d Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Rage 128 Pro PF chipset: r128 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Rage 128 chipset: r128 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

This guy's got RCA and s-video out. Neat. (Free Geek find)

Radeon VE (Radeon 7000) chipset: rv100 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: 1002:5159 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

This card has had several issues over time with our drivers. It's not surprising, since developers generally don't buy these extra-low-end cards. Just got it from keithp, because we were using it to work on tv-out.

Radeon VIVO chipset: r100 bus: AGP memory: 64MB
PCI ID: 1002:5144 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Radeon 7500 chipset: rv200 bus: AGP memory: 64MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

The video quality on the first one of these I had made me almost give up on ATI. The ghosting was terrible, and the company I bought it from had the audacity to blame it on my monitor (you know, the same one I used with the previous video card). The second was OK, but the other reports I saw on the internet hadn't made me very hopeful.

Radeon 8500 chipset: r200 bus: AGP memory: 64MB
PCI ID: 1002:514c Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I've got a couple of these things, one of which was a donation. They're rock solid. Good performance. Few hardware bugs. I get warm fuzzies just thinking about them.

Radeon 9100 chipset: rv250 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

And now for a card that makes hardware and software cry. Nobody likes PCI.

Radeon 9600 chipset: r3?? bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Radeon 9600SE chipset: r3?? bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Radeon 9800Pro chipset: r3?? bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

A loaner from Will, it suffers the usual 9800 issues with the r300 driver.

Intel

i740 chipset: i740 bus: AGP memory: 8MB
PCI ID: 8086:7800 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Two of them. Haven't verified that the other is the same pci id.

i8?? chipset: i8?? bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Donation for FreeBSD work. Need to do the work. (Except that the board seems to be dead).

915GM chipset: bus: memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Primary work laptop. Toshiba Toughbook CF-Y4. Nice machine, except you can't get to the hard drive to upgrade it.

945GM chipset: bus: memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Mac Mini. With delightful BIOS still containing LVDS tables.

G965 chipset: bus: memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Intel desktop machine.

Matrox

G200 chipset: g200 bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

G400 chipset: g400 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

The second 3d card I worked on the porting for FreeBSD. Sent to me by Stephen Hocking because I'd been doing 3dfx and he suggested I port another module.

G400 dualhead chipset: g400 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: 102b:0525 Subsys ID: Platform: x86

From Free Geek's $2 box

GeForce2 MX chipset: nv1x bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I got this thing just in case I some day get the bug to do nv_dri.so. Free Geek++

S3

S3/Virge DX chipset: s3v bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Savage IX chipset: savage? bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Savage4 chipset: savage4 bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I've got two of them. Just in case.

Savage2000 chipset: savage2000? bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

From Alex Deucher, for DRI development

SIS

SiS 6326 chipset: 6326 bus: AGP memory: 4MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I've got a work-in-progress driver for these guys.

SiS 305 chipset: 300 bus: PCI memory: 32MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Through working at LinuxFund, I became the maintainer for this hardware. It's been fun, except for the total lack of documentation, bogosity of some data in the headers, magic orders in which to write registers, etc.

SiS 305 chipset: 300 bus: AGP memory: 32MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

SiS 315 chipset: 315 bus: AGP memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

Trident

TGUI 9680 chipset: TGUI 9680 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

two of them

TGUI 9440 chipset: TGUI 9440 bus: PCI memory:
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

onboard mumble chipset: ??? bus: AGP memory: 4MB
PCI ID: Subsys ID: Platform: x86

I've got two revisions of this on EPIA boards, sent for some FreeBSD work. I should figure out what this chipset was -- CyberBlade, I think.

Revision History

2007-02-06

Removed the cards_i_want link, as I don't really want more hardware any more. Also added new Intel hardware.

2006-03-01

Added the r128 with video out and the #9. Too bad the Real Image 2100 didn't work -- two heads, massive obscurity. What wasn't to love?

2006-01-18

Added two Tridents I found during cleanup.

2005-11-14

Added agd5f's Savage2000.

2005-11-02

Added keithp's Radeon 7000.

2005-10-28

Added 6 new Free Geek acquisitions.

2005-10-27

First revision, after snagging idr's version.
